Our Responsibility

At the SAFARI Company, we don’t believe in big chain brands but rather in authentic safaris with true heart. We send our guests to the little lodges and gorgeous camps that positively impact the local wildlife, people and land. By prioritising conservation and communities, we can play a part in safeguarding the natural longevity of Africa’s wild and rural areas.

The SAFARI Company also directly supports a collection of standout charities and organisations including:

Kivuli Trust

The Kivuli Trust (Kivuli meaning ‘shelter’ in Kiswahili) is close to Chania’s heart. It’s a hostel and a special school specifically for children with mental and physical disabilities. Their aim is to help these ‘forgotten’ children receive specialist education and support within a regular school environment. We love to help this special place either by encouraging sponsoring a child (GBP30 per month feeds 2 children) or by bringing second-hand clothing or school equipment of any sort. Kivuli Trust & Here is their video.

For Rangers

A dedicated group of individuals raising money for the welfare of rangers who risk their lives daily to protect Africa’s endangered species.

Zizibow

Our sister one-stop safari shop. Zizibow produces beautiful Kenyan-made items for sale in shops around Kenya. They specifically work with inspirational women and women’s groups throughout Kenya.  If you buy from Zizibow, you’re supporting endless great causes.

Saidia Charity

(Saidia meaning ‘help’ in Kiswahili). Also near where Chania lives, they provide a safe haven for children who have been abandoned, give them a home and prepare them for independence. Many of these children come from the harshest of conditions and Saidia gives them hope and help in a family-style setting. We love to help this special place either by encouraging sponsoring a child (GBP30 per month feeds 2 children) or by bringing second-hand clothing or school or sports equipment of any sort.

Watamu Snake Farm

A charity that empowers communities with snake education, carries out research and promotes snake conservation to save lives, limbs and livelihoods.

Grevy’s Zebra Trust

An independent wildlife conservation trust dedicated to saving the endangered Grevy’s zebra.

Chania’s Farm

In certain rural corners of Kenya, overuse of farm chemicals, some which have been banned in many other countries, exposes Kenyans to cancer, serious reproductive, hormonal and nervous conditions, as well as genetic deformities that could be passed on to future generations. Chania has a small chemical free vegetable farm, to provide fresh veg to her community in Nyandarua and the Gilgil area. Initially a COVID project, Chania has taken it upon herself to dedicate all profits from her small farm to help teach, train, guide the surrounding community as to how to grow wonderful vegetables without the use of harmful chemicals. Her end-goal to have the entire valley they live in, Turasha growing organic vegetables in the farmland and supporting the natural environment in the rest.

Local Ocean Trust

A marine conservation and community development organisation that implements sustainable marine resource management models, utilising sea turtles as an indicator species for ecosystem health.
